Patient: 75 years
History
The 75-year-old patient presented due to elevated blood pressure after an acute stress situation.
Her medical history includes arterial hypertension and type 2 diabetes mellitus. She reports that she became very upset today due to a stressful situation. She then measured her blood pressure and found markedly elevated values. Out of concern she has already taken 25 mg captopril sublingually.
On presentation the blood pressure was 160/80 mmHg, the capillary blood glucose 287 mg/dl.
The patient denies chest pain, dyspnea, palpitations, dizziness, syncope, headaches, visual disturbances, focal neurological deficits, nausea, and vomiting.
She reports only internal restlessness and tension following the stress situation.
